0506(Mon) Concert day of the Oratorio Society at the Carnegie Hall.
It is over! Singing Samson of Handel at the Carnegie Hall on May,6. It was not easy. One was my eyes. It has been getting more difficult to read lyric on music. The other is my physical strength. On performance day alone, there was 2 hour of on-stage rehearsal followed by 3hours of performance. But, all these have been rewarded by huge success of concert. Thank you Maestro, the orchestra and fellow singers.
5月6日、カーネギー大ホールでの、ヘンデルの「サムソン」が終わりました。81歳にもなりますと、年々いろいろな障害が出てきます。歌詞が見にくくなり、また2時間のステージリハ、それに続く3時間の演奏は、かなりの体力を要しました。でも、これらを克服してコンサートは大きな成功でした。音楽監督ケント、オケの皆さんそして歌の仲間たちに感謝します。

So lucky to have the sun in the sky on Saturday, May 11 in New York to join the Japan Parade. Awa-odori ”New York Ren” danced 400 year old traditional dance on CPW from 82nd to 67th with some 80 participants including 2 visitors from Tokushima, Japan, where Awa-odori begun some 400 years ago. I was honored to carry a pair of traditional lanterns marked “New York Ren.” The green character is representing citrus called SUDACHI, produced in Tokushima.
前日も翌日も雨だったニューヨークで、五月晴れの下でパレードが出来たのは実に幸運でした。創設よりわずか5年の、阿波踊り「ニューヨーク連」は、西セントラルパーク通りを、82丁目から63丁目まで踊りました。阿波踊りが400年前に創始されたという、阿波徳島からの踊り手も加わり、総勢80人規模で踊ることができました。小生は、高張提灯を掲げて踊りの先頭を歩く栄誉に浴しました。この日は、天気晴朗なれども風強しという日で、まさかの時を考えて屈強の助っ人を用意して下さり、とても心強い思いでした。連の配慮に感謝します。尚、緑色のキャラクターは、徳島県がスダチの特産地であることから、「スダチ君」という県のキャラクターを貸与していただきました。
