2022.0617.(Fri)　 La Salvatat sur Agot -Angles 18.0km, 11.3Miles
The Camino passes 3 Major cities in southern France, Montpellier, Castres and Toulouse. Montpellier is within La Rhone basin, same as Arles and Castres and Toulouse is in Garonne Basin. In between, there is a group of hills to separate these basins. However, the altitude is not so high, up to and around 1000 meters. From Montpillier to Castres, we need to go up for 1000 meters of hills for a few days and come down. I passed the highest point of 1019m 2 days ago, 6/15. 2 days later, I’m only coming down to Angles,753m and major descent will occur on Sunday, 7/19, between Angles 753m to Boissezon 279m. Therefore, today could be the last day that I could view these hills I came across in last few days.
The distance between Salvatat to Angles is 18.0km. I could walk this distance if the trail was flat. This time, the trail still had ups and downs. I thought to take taxi to some midpoint to reduce the walking distance. But that was not feasible because there was no midpoint that Camino met with road. This means, if I take taxi, I had to take it all the way to Angles.
I consulted with the innkeeper and she knew where the trail met the road, which was not clear from the map I have. The place was the village of Les Crouzettes and she even offered to take me there. She dropped me at the col before the village where these was a refuge hut and fountain. I climbed to 783m point and headed down. The distance to the village of Angles was about 5.6 km but the view was beautiful and I could look back these group of hills where I passed in last few days.
On the way to the village, Met with 4 guys and about 30 min later, with 4 girls. Met with the all of them together at the bar of the village later.
The inn was operated by 70 yeras old Aidkido sensei form Nice, France. He and his wife was looking after a 3 year old grandson because the grandson’s mom just had another baby 3 days ago. The name of the grandson was Logan, same as my 4 years old.

今日はAnglesに着きます。中央高地の最高地点1019ｍは2日前に過ぎましたたが、今日のAngles753ｍまで2日かかっても270ｍほどしか下っておりません。ところがAnglesからBoisesson(279m)まで、一日で500ｍ近く下ります。従って、今日が中央高地の山々を振り返る最後のチャンスになります。今日は距離にして18.0㎞と、平地なら十分歩ける距離ですが、今日のコースの特徴は、私の地図ではカミノが車道と交わるところがなく、一旦車に乗るとAnglesまで行く必要があります。思い余って女将に相談しましたら、女将もAnglesに行くので、途中で落としてあげるとの願ってもないOfferがあり、お願いしました。さすがに彼女はカミノがどこを通っているかについて詳しく、途中のLas Crouzettesで水場と避難小屋があるので、そこで降りるのがいいとのことでした。私の地図ではこちら側からそこに行く道はないのです。そこで降ろしてもらい、783ｍ地点まで戻って道の状態を調べました。そこからAnglesまで、約7㎞ありました。途中で、いままで歩いてきた中央高地の山々を見返すことができ、とてもよかったです。Angles到着前に、今まで顔なじみになった男性2人にもう二人加わった4人に抜かれ、フランス人の女学生4人には少したってから抜かれました。でも、Anglesのバルでは8人が集まってランチをしていて、当然私もJoinしました。面白いことを発見しました。この若い女学生方は、フランス人なのですが勿論英語もできます。私と英語で話すときには、当然ですが、声は口から出ています。ところが、友人たちとフランス語で話すときには、声は鼻から出ているのです。私にとっては新しい発見でした。今晩の宿主は、合気道の先生で、ニースからきた70歳でした。娘さんが二人目の孫ができるので、一人目の孫を預かっており、この一人目の孫の名前はLogan,奇しくも私の孫4歳と同じ名前でした。
