2022.0623.(Thu) Revel to Casses 18.0km, 11.3miles
To find sandwich in Revel was not easy. Had to ask a few people and got it. Went to the Tourist Office and got a stamp. Sat for a few minutes in the church, L’Eglise Notre-Dame-des-Graces. Then, walked to the south of this town of Revel, where a water channel, La Rigole (means “the channel”) ran. Ran miles and miles. El Camino ran along the channel, and I had no choice but to walk the trail along the channel with the same view all the way. I understand it was excavated in1667 in order to supply enough water from Sor River to Canal di Midi even in summer. After walking about 10 miles, arrived at a village called Las Casses. According to the instruction by WTC, called the hotel in Saint Felix Lauragais to picked me up and the hotel car took me atop a hill where the village was located. This was very interesting because it resembled to many Italian cities such as Todi and Gubbio in Toscana.
I liked the discipline of the hotel and its personnel. The receptionist spoke perfect English though she was French. Waiters not only spoke good English, but their discipline and attire was also excellent. It rained during dinner time, and we had to stay indoors. Otherwise, we could have had nice views from the terrace. I thought I wanted to come back here sometime in the near future.

カミノ100日巡礼のうち、23日目です。
Revelの観光案内所はかなりユニークなつくりで、ここでスタンプをもらいました。珍しく教会が開いていたので、しばらく座りました。L’Eglise Notre-Dame-des-Gracesというかなり大きな教会です。それから村の南の方角に歩き出しました。町はずれに並木に沿った疎水, La Rigoleがあり、これから2日間、この疎水に沿って歩きます。この疎水は、夏でもミディ運河が通行できるように、Sor Riverという川から水を引くため1667年に開削されたとの事です。15㎞ほど歩いて疎水を離れ、又1㎞歩いてLes Cassesの村からSaint FelixLauragaisのホテルに電話して迎えに来てもらいました。従業員のしつけのいい、大変気持ちのいいホテルでした。受付の女性は訛りのない完璧な英語を話すので、英国人かと聞いたら、フランス人ですとのこと。最初2013年に歩いた時よりもフランス人の英語が上達しているし、英語を話すことに全く抵抗がなくなったように思えます。ニューヨークで、ブロークンとか汚い英語が氾濫しているところから来ると、フランスの英語が綺麗なのには感心します。さすが、言葉についてうるさいフランスだけあると思いました。
夕食前に村を見学しました。村は丘の頂上にあり、イタリア・トスカーナのTodiとかGubbioを思い出させました。大きな教会がありましたが、残念ながら閉まっていました。大粒の雨がやってきましたので、宿に帰りました。夕食は雨でなければ外の景色を見渡しながら食べられたのでしょうが、仕方がありません。ギャルソンは全員ネクタイをしていて、躾と英語がとても良くて、気持ちのいい食事でした。ギャルソンの服装と立ち居振る舞いも味のうちなんだと痛感しました。この村とこのホテルには、近い将来再度訪れたいと思いました。
