2022.0715.(Fri) Oloron Ste. Marie-Sarrance 21.0km 13.1miles
From here to the border between Spain, Col du Somport, the trail goes along a river ( Gave d’Aspe). Therefore, all we see today is mountains on both sides of the river.
Today’s 21km is a bit too far for me. Woke up early to catch 7:51 train. At 8:03, got off at Lurbe-Ste. Chiristau.
Surprize 1 was to meet with Great Pyrenees in St. Cristau. Surprise 2 was meeting a Dutch couple again after 40 days at outside of Ste. Christau. They started from Rome and walked to French border, took 2 weeks’ vacation in Sardegnia and restarted Camino from Arles. They must walk twice as fast as I am.
Walked nice trail for 5.3km up to Escor. However, after Escor, it was different. From time to time to time, the Camino takes longer and more difficult route. Today was a good example. Escot to Surrance 3.7km was amazing. It was along the river, Gave d’Aspe. The trail was 50-100 meters above the river, traversing a hill of 45-60 degrees of slope, 30-50cm of trail width, with up and down. I did not feel this trail was safe but met with two courageous women traveling against me.
The hotel was nice. Air conditioned and with restaurant.
Walked 9 km on camino and rode on train for 12km.
これより国境のソンポート峠から流れてくる川（ Gave d’Aspe）に沿って歩きます。これまでの広い野原の景色は一変して、川の両岸から迫ってくる山肌が主な景色となります。今日は21㎞あり、距離が少し長いので最初汽車に乗ります。7：51発の汽車に乗るために早起きしました。汽車は、終点のBedous行きでしたが、いつの日か汽車で峠を越えて、スペインに入れる日が来たらいいなあと思いました。川に沿って12㎞ほど走った Lurbe-Ste. Chiristauで降りました。駅から一キロほど歩くと、カミノに合流、道標がでてきました。村の道に、ピレネー犬（グレート・ピレニーズ）と思われる大型犬がいました。(サプライズ１）道標に沿って村を抜けると、野中の道になります。しばらく行くと、後ろからくる人たちがいて、振り返ると、一ケ月半前の6月4日に会ったオランダ人のカップルです。再会を喜び合いました。（サプライズ２）彼らは早く歩くので、間もなく見えなくなりました。ウナギの寝床のように街道に沿って細長くのびるEscotの村を抜けると、汽車の線路がきれいなアーチ型の橋で川を超えています。ここからカミノは川沿いの山道に入ります。川沿いの急斜面（傾斜45-60度）を川面から50－100mの高度をトラバースしながら遡行する道なんですが、道幅は50㎝以下、しかも時々高巻の為に道幅が30㎝しかない急登急降も何度かあり、あまり安全とは言えないなあと思いました。でも、勇敢な女性に出会い、私と逆方向に歩いていきました。しばらくいくと、もう一人勇敢な女性に会いました。お二人とも、かなりの山歩きの経験がおありだと思いました。到着地のSarrance もウナギの寝床のような村でしたが、宿はいい宿で、盛業中の食堂が併設されていました。

Dutch couple met on June 4 6/4に会ったオランダ人カップルに再会
