カーネギー本番の日。約3時間かけて一応全曲のおさらいをした。4時に佐伯さん宅で彼女をピックアップ、5時前後にカーネギーに着く。正面で写真をとって、6階の楽屋に入る。6：10にサウンドチェックの為にステージに降りる。サウンドチェックはかなり入念に行われた。7時から休憩で7：40に整列し、ステージに降りる。ステージ入り口で馴染みのカーネギー職員と「Longtime don’t see！」と言い合って再会を喜ぶ。本番はアッと言う間に終わった。
佐伯さんはご主人と食事に行くとかで別れて、私だけで駐車場にいくと、Ridgewoodの男声合唱団のLouに会う。帰り道は事故かなんかで混んでいて、一時間かかった。
来場者の感想は次の通り。ピアノの先生なので、音楽はご存じの方。
「圧巻でした！大変素晴らしかったです。合唱団員やオーケストラ、美しいソロイスト達の歌声とのコンビネーションがよく、今日は最初の曲から心がワクワク喜んでました。合唱の厚みと、オーケストラの重なり合う響きに胸が熱くなりました。感動しました❣️
席をアップグレードして頂きまして、ありがとうございました。
「ハリーさん！」って叫んだの聴こえましたか？(笑)
また行きたい！と思わせていただいた素晴らしいコンサートでした。」

Although I couldn’t sing in tonight’s performance of Elijah, I attended it with my colleague, composer Samuel Zyman, who teaches with me at Juilliard. We were so moved by the performance! He said it was the high point of his year. There were also a couple of dozen Juilliard students to whom you gave tickets. The audience loved it. You guys sounded magnificent! The subtleties, the range of emotions, the dynamics, the precision. It was all there. I was so proud of you (US)!

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night at Carnegie Hall for Mendelssohn Elijah! It was a pleasure to perform such a stirring Oratorio with amazing soloists Justin Austin, Susanna Phillips, Soprano, Lucia Bradford, Isaiah Bell, tenor and Maestro Kent Tritle.
