The day had come. The day that pass the Col du Sonport and leave France.
In the morning, Jean Pierre, the owner of the hotel and Miho’s neighbor said a small part of the road was under construction and was dangerous to walk. He insisted I ride his car to avoid the dangerous part and I accepted with thanks. He drove me to Marassaa, about 2km from the hotel and from there I start walking. I took Camino trail from the point of 974. The trail was well made and maintained with gradient of about 10-15 degrees throughout. The Dutch guy, Martin caught me up while I was having lunch. He joined my lunch, and I gave one of my water bottles because he said his water became short. He departed before me. Because of the altitude over 1000m, I had to breeze very hard. After all, arrived to the Col with altitude of 1640m (a mile high) which was surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Pyrenees. Martin was waiting for me at the Col and we had drinks at the bar located near the col. Martin left for Canfranc for the concert of Miho’s husband. I left for Candanchu which was a ski resort. The hotel Edelweiss was a 3 star and was a very good place to stay for the first night in Spain.

ついにその日が来ました。ソンボルト峠を経てフランスから出る日です。
朝、Jean Pierre（ホテルのオーナーでみほさんの隣人）が、峠に向かう道の一部が工事中で、人間の歩くところがないので、危険だから車に乗れと言ってくれました。ありがたくお受けしてMarassaaまで2㎞ほど乗せてもらいました。Jean-Pierreにさよならを言って自動車道を約1㎞歩くとカミノに出会い、地図の標高974ｍのところからカミノに入りました。

峠越えの古い道だけあって、カミノのトレイルはよくできていて、10-15度の勾配を保っています。オランダ人のMartinが追いついてきて、一緒にランチをしました。彼は水が足りないというので、手持ちの新しい500㏄のボトルをあげました。私は足が遅いので彼に先に行くように言いました。高度1300mあたりからは、大きな息をせねばならなくなりました。Urdosから800ｍばかり登ってついに1640mの峠に着きました。周りは美しいピレネー連峰が見えて、とても幸せでした。Martinは峠で待ってくれていたので、峠のBarでいろいろ飲み、写真を撮りました。彼はCanfrancで行われるNicola（みほさんのご主人）のコンサートに行くと言って先に出ました。私はそこからCandanchuまで1.5㎞ほど歩きました。久しぶりの下り坂でした。Candanchuは、スペインのスキーリゾートで、Hotel Edelwaissは三ツ星、スペインの最初の夜を過ごすには申し分のないところです。
