2022.0725.(Mon) Unduez-Sanguesa 11.0km 6.9miles
In the morning, taxi send me back to Unduez to resume walking. At the village, a couple wanted to take picture with me which I accepted. I asked them the reason of photo taking with me and they said I became well known among the pilgrims for my uniqueness. They said they heard of me from a Dutch couple. Oh yeah, Ton and Marg were disseminating my uniqueness to other pilgrims. A few minutes later, I was asked if I were Nishitani. I thought another photo taking but wasn’t. It was a postman, and he had an order to carry may luggage to Hotel Yamaguchi. I guess WTC forget to cancel the order.
Today, I started with 3 groups from Unduez. But, as usual, they went very fast, and I was the only one in sight. Took a right turn at paved highway to get Javier. Mian Mian Do Do map was the only source of information since I am off Camino. However, this map was not always correct and had to be very flexible in understanding. In any event, when a car came, I stopped it and asked for direction for Javier. Asked a biker for the same. Finally arrived the Javier castle, which was the birthplace of Francisco Javier, who came to Japan in 1549 to propagate Christianity.
Good thing was it was not too hot today, only 29 degrees.
Arrived at the Castle and had a lunch at a bar in front of the castle. They served a good food for this was an well-known place. Had them stamped and entered into the Castle, which was a museum now. I liked a hanging scroll of Javier was giving sermon to a high-ranking samurai, possibly, Lord Yamauchi. I posted a few pictures on Facebook.
Upon coming back to Hotel Yamaguchi, I heard not so good news. The restaurant would be closed today, Monday. I had to make some arrangement with hotel personnel to get something to eat. I should always be careful with Monday.
朝タクシーでUnduezに戻ったら、若いカップルが写真を撮らせてほしいと言ってきました。その理由を聞いたら、私がユニークなので、巡礼仲間で有名人になっているとのことでした。誰が話を流しているのかと聞くと、オランダ人のカップルだといいます。さもありなん、彼らならやりかねません。
Unduez から3組の巡礼がほぼ同時に出発しましたが、ほかの2組はほどなく見えなくなった。いつものことです。2.5㎞ほど行ってカミノを離れてハビエルの方に歩きます。カミノを離れたとたんに、黄色の矢印は無くなって、自分で道を決めなければなりません。唯一の手掛かりは、地図なんですが、これがあまり正確ではないので、途中で会った車とか自転車に道を確認しながら、やっと9年前に来たハビエル城に着きました。お城の前のBarで昼食を食べました。今までの田舎料理でなく、有名観光地だけあって、ここでは都会の料理がでてきました。お城に入り口でスタンプをもらい、中に入って見学をしました。二回目なのですが、ザビエルと思しき人物が、山内公と思しき人物に説教している掛け軸は何度見てもいいと思いました。2018年だったと思いますが、山口県防府に住んでいる中学以来の友人を訪ねました。勿論案内してくれたのは萩城とか松下村塾ですが、山口市のザビエル教会に連れて行ってもらい、超近代的教会堂を見学しました。礼拝中だったので、サンクチュアリーには入りませんでしたが、展示室があり、生誕の場所であるハビエル城の展示もあり、懐かしく思いました。当日のFBにはこう書きました。「1549年（信長15歳、秀吉12歳、家康６歳）日本にやってきて、キリスト教の布教に努めたフランシスコ/ザビエルの生まれたお城です。来日当時大内氏の庇護を受けて、主に山口県で布教したので、この近所にホテルヤマグチがあり、わたしはそこに泊まります。（中略）学生の頃、阪急電車神戸線に乗ると、黒い風呂敷に教科書を包んだ六甲学院の生徒さんが目につきました。今回ザビエルのことで調べていたら、六甲学院もイエズス会が建てたものと知りました。上智大学、名古屋の南山大学、六甲学院、栄光学園など、イエズス会はしっかり日本に根を下ろしていると思います。それにしても、この時代に日本にやってくるのは、命がけでしたでしょうに。使命感でしょうか。スペインの片田舎に居てそんなことを考えました。（中略）この日、FacebookにJabier城訪問について投稿しました。友人の大分県人よりコメントがあり、「もうー感動！大分にも布教したので、ザビエルという美味しいお菓子が大分にあります」答えて、「そう、後の大友宗麟もキリスト教を認めたので、九州北部でも布教が盛んになったようです。それにしても、すぐに食べ物に結び付ける反射神経はさすが！」
