As I guessed, I was little tired yesterday and overslept a little bit. Hotel’s front desk called me that Jaco Trans, the luggage carrier was here for pick up. I had to rush down with luggage.
I wanted to go to the Cathedral and Hotel Paradores which was operated by the Spanish Government where I stayed 7 years ago. So, taxi was hired to visit these places. Photo taking was successful in both places.
Got off the taxi at La Virgen Del Camino, about 6 km from the Hotel Paradores, where was a church with needle-like tower. To make sure that I make a right turn at the right place, I asked a couple with a dog. They took me to the point where I should make turn.
Before arriving at Frezno, a few highways were crossing and was noisy. At Oncina,3.6km from Virgen, I had some tea and bought sandwich. The needle-like tower was seen even from here. Next 5 km, nothing around Camino but brown gravel road ahead of me. Chozas de Abajo, had lunch at the fountain. Walking another hot 4 km, arrived Vilar de Manzarife. As I enter the village, I recalled I stayed here 7 years ago and left here very early in the morning to arrive at Astorga 31km away. This time, I had planned to 2 days to arrive at Astorga from here.
休養日に疲れていたら、何のための休養日かわからないですが、昨晩は疲れたみたいで寝過ごしてしまいました。寝過ごして困るのは、荷物のピックアップで、8時に間に合わせる必要があります。今日は、初めて荷物の運送業者、Jaco trans.に催促されて、慌てて荷物をフロントに持って行きました。今日は、カテドラルと前回泊まったパラドールホテルで写真を撮りたかったので、車を雇い写真を撮りました。Leonは市街地が広く、市街地を歩くのは面白くないので、6㎞先の La Virgen del Caminoで車を降りました。ここの教会は、天にも届くばかりの高い針のような尖塔があり、遠くからでもよく見えました。ここで、道は2つに別れているので、犬連れのカップルに分岐点を聞いたら、親切にも分岐点まで案内してくれました。市街地から急に土の道になりましたが、次のFreznoまではハイウェイが交差していて、騒音が高いと思いました。Freznoからは静かなに道なり、ほどなくOnciaに着きました。Virgen から 3.6km もきたのに、まだ塔が見えていた。そこで紅茶を飲み、サンドイッチを買いました。それからの5㎞は何も無い砂利道で、沿道には畑すらありません。5㎞ほど先のChozasが近づいたら小麦畑がやっと見えました。Chozasでランチをし、それから炎天下を4㎞ほど歩くとManzarifeに着きました。村に入って7年前にこの村に泊まったことを思い出しました。その時には、ここから31㎞先のAstorgaまで一日で歩いたものでした。オーストラリア人のクレアと一緒に歩きました。今回はAstorga まで2日がかりの計画にしています。
