Day 2 of 100 days on El Camino de Santiago de Compostela

2022.0602. (Thu) 16.9km 
Learning from yesterday’s experience, I’ve got 3.4 litters of water and a large sandwich. I have transferred my poncho and umbrella from backpack to a luggage to be carried by the travel agent. In addition, I decided not to trust GPS too much.
Today, I must visit the The Abbey of Saint-Gilles (French: Abbaye de Saint-Gilles ) . It was a monastery and church. I thought the Saint has been admired by many people. The church attendant cheerfully gave me a stamp.
Left for trail at 10:00 with 10 bells ringing. There were more activities around the trail, could see many people walking and appeared to be more like typical Camino. However, that was only initial 1/3 and the rest of 2/3 was worse than yesterday. it was gravel or dirt road with ups and downs. Glad I brought plenty of water and large sandwich.
I did not get tired compared to yesterday, probably with plenty of water and food. However, not everything can be good. The hotel was awful. No restaurant, inn keeper did not speak English well, he went home at 8pm and could not tell me where I can find a place to eat. Room did not have a bath tub and so on.
Went out for dinner without knowing where to go. A bar was open near center of town and bought a beer. Asked manager where to eat and luckily his English was ok. Went that place and ate pretty good food. It was a French restaurant after all.

2022.0602.(木）カミノ・100日巡礼のうち2日目

昨日の経験から学び、3.4Lの水と大きなサンドイッチを持って行きます。折り畳み傘とポンチョは、スーツケースに移して、バックパックを軽くしました。それから、GPSをあまり信じないことにします。今日は、 The Abbey of Saint-Gilles (French: Abbaye de Saint-Gilles ) に行かねばなりません。修道院なのでとても大きく見えたのですが、サンジレは多くの人に敬われているのでなあと思いました。係の人はとても丁寧にスタンプを押してくれました。10の鐘が鳴っている最中に出発しました。農道の中を行きます。バイカー（サイクリスト）が多いので、にぎやかに思えましたが、歩き巡礼は2名に会っただけでした。それでも昨日よりはましでした。それも最初の1/3の間だけで、あとの2/3は誰にも会いませんでした。砂利道または土の道で、登り下りがあります。昨日のように暑く、2倍の水を持ってきたので、昨日のようには疲れずにすみました。しかし、すべてのことがよかったわけではなく、宿がダメでした。食堂がついてなくて、宿の亭主は英語ができないばかりか、8時になると自宅に帰ってしまいました。どこで夕食を食べていいかわからず、村の中央で開いているバルで食堂のありかを聞きました。幸いにも彼の英語はOKで、食堂が見つかり、おいしいフランス料理の食事ができました。今日は距離が16.9ｋｍと短く、これで、17㎞までは大丈夫と判明しました。
